News Nearby: Summit to Help Community Learn About Healthy Living

The free event takes place June 13 at the DeKalb county board of education.

The DeKalb county board of health will hold a health and wellness summit,  "Empowering the Community for Change" this Thursday at the DeKalb county board of education, 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd.

The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13 with doors opening at 8 a.m. Register for the summit here.

Participants will learn about developing a workout plan, learning how to create a community garden, and building a tobacco free community, according to the health department's website. Lunch will be served.
