Nesbit Elementary Opens Homework Center

Harry the Hawk will help launch the new center.

SCANA Energy will open its homework center at Nesbit Elementary School today, Tuesday, Nov. 1, with an appearance by Harry the Hawk of the Atlanta Hawks. 

Harry the Hawk will visit the homework center students at the school on 6575 Cherokee Drive in Tucker from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to present “1,2,3 Healthy Me”, a program that focuses on healthy eating and staying fit. Using fun and interactive skits, this show brings a unique blend of entertainment and education to students.

The Nesbit Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The center serves 30 second through fourth grade students. “We are pleased to partner with SCANA Energy to help our students excel through the after-school program,” says Clayborn Knight, principal of Nesbit.

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives.  Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in East Point, Macon, Marietta, Norcross, and Rome.
