Main Street's Christmas Holiday Today

Tucker is having a street party to celebrate the season and everyone is invited.

Christmas in Tucker kicks off today, Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. with a bunch of activities taking place on Main Street. Plans are detailed below, courtesy of the Tucker Historical Society:

  • The Tucker Middle School Marching Band will lead a short parade from the area behind Restaurant beginning at about 7 p.m.
  • Santa Claus will be riding in a red convertible Corvette behind the band and will stop in from of the Masonic Lodge.
  • As the band plays, Santa will light the community tree, and then he will make his way to the throne in the old restaurant space.
  • Hot chocolate, spiced cider, and soft drinks will be available in the restaurant and at the fire pit (there will be a donation jug for those willing and able).
  • Children will be able to roast marshmallows, make smores, and roasted hot dogs in a fire pit under a tent in front of the Masonic Lodge (provided by the lodge).
  • Children can visit with Santa and a professional photographer will take pictures that will be sold to the parents (they will also be available later on a website).
  • The Northlake Children’s Choir will perform on risers in front of , followed by the First Baptist Church Choir, the Sons of Grace Quartet, and the Methodist Praise Band.

Local restaurants will have booths with finger food for sale. The booths will be set up in front of the , Local 7, and in front of the former (the lady opening the new bakery in that space will be selling some baked goods.) Tucker Historical Society's ornament table will be in the backroom of the Linda Karr's shop -Outdoor Nature Station.

The entire event should be over by 9 p.m. Come on down, bring your friends and neighbors to join the entire Tucker community in celebrating Christmas the old-fashioned way, catch the spirit of the season, and let's make it a magical success for all the children.
