Idlewood Property Flooded By Creek

This is video taken Wednesday afternoon of Gerry Williams' flooded property on Idlewood Road in Tucker.

Williams told Patch DeKalb County is to blame for the inundation. "We're getting the runaround from everybody," she said. "The culvert at Brockett Road is all backed up with logs, tires, and who knows what. It's causing this part of the creek to overflow into our yard."

Williams said her husband has been calling various county agencies, all of whom are passing the buck and blaming each other.

"I think the GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) is responsible and they were going to bring a crane but nothing's happened."

The water got inside a neighbor's house on nearby Camelot Circle, Williams said. "It's a big mess out there."

Update: Patch reader Jen Burkart sent in these two photos of her backyard, taken on Aug. 21. "This has been an on-going problem for me and two other neighbors. DeKalb County needs to come out to our street and survey this. The piping belongs to the county and is coming from another street and flooding our yards," she said.
