New DeKalb School Board Meeting Wednesday

Appointed members will meet with elected ones and get down to business.

The DeKalb County Board of Education, with its newly-appointed members, will hold a business meeting on Wednesday, March 20, at the District's main office in Stone Mountain, it was announced Thursday.

Starting at 6 p.m., this will mark the first time the six appointees of Governor Deal are having a business meeting with the three existing board members who were elected in November.

Patch will have the agenda when it is released by DCSD on Monday evening.

Also today, Dekalb County CEO Burrell Ellis issued a statement saying: “I want to personally commend the six newly appointed DeKalb County school board members for their willingness to serve. I now encourage them to move swiftly in addressing the concerns outlined in the SACS report and, as a community, offer whatever support is necessary in achieving that goal. We must ensure that each child has access to a quality education that will prepare him or her for a bright future.”
