Chris Sanders Dismissed From Bulldogs

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Chris Sanders has been dismissed from the team by coach Mark Richt for unspecified rules violations, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

In an announcement this morning, Feb. 3, Richt said that two other players - defensive back Nick Marshall and wide receiver Sanford Seay - were also dropped from UGA.

Fox 5 in Atlanta is reporting that Marshall and Seay were dismissed for their part in the theft of $500 worth of money and valuables from another Georgia player, as yet un-named. It is not known whether Sanders' dismissal is related to the alleged theft.

“It’s a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University,” Richt said in his statement, adding, "along with that privilege comes certain responsibilities. Mistakes were made, and part of our job is helping them learn from mistakes."

Richt said that the players - all freshmen - will be assisted by UGA in finding "opportunities where they can continue their education.”

Sanders, who was with the Tucker Tigers in 2010, played in the first three games of the season at UGA - recording tackles against Coastal Carolina and Boise State - but missed the rest due to an injury to his shoulder.
