Also, Leadership DeKalb has started a new group called Its For Them DeKalb with a $25,000 grant from The Community Foundation For Greater Atlanta. It’s For Them DeKalb has conducted interviews with some of the BOE candidates and will be posting those videos, as well as questionnaires the candidates answered, on their website on April 22, to coincide with the first candidate forum. If you can’t make it to the forum, you can learn more about the candidates at their web site.

Please make time to learn about the candidates to form your own opinion about who to vote for on May 20. This BOE election is very important.

DeKalb County Schools is entering a time of transformation. The district is soon to be searching for a new superintendent, will be changing to a Charter District, and needs to demonstrate fidelity to the reforms begun in response to the Required Actions1 AdvancEd imposed when placing the district on probation.

The winners of the May 20, BOE election will be responsible for those things. The choice of the next superintendent is perhaps the most important decision in recent DCSD history. Voters in DeKalb County are responsible for electing the people who will make that choice.

Please get engaged and involved.
