Staff Technology Use Survey

I looked over the Staff Technology Use Survey that was posted on the SACS Accreditation Review page of the DCSD web site.

The first thing which caught my eye was the fact that 1,444 teachers responded to the survey. That is less than 25% of the teachers in the district.

The more significant thing I noted was the last question, "The most common challenge when integrating technology in your classroom is:"

Over 51% (875Β  respondents) answered either "Lack of Equipment" or "Lack of Accessibility to Equipment." Another 11% answered, "Equipment Is Not Operable."

There isn't a date on the survey results to indicate how long ago this question was answered. I hope it was last spring and the responses would be dramatically different today.

I see this as an opportunity for the school district to create a success story. If I ran the communications department, I would ask this question again and put together a story highlighting the change and talking about how technology is going into the classrooms.

That is my positive PR tip for the week.
