The Princess and The Peas

As you celebrate St. Patrick's Day this weekend and prepare lots of green treats, here's a true story that puts a funny twist to the tale of "The Princess and The Pea."

For any parent who has tried to convince a young child to eat his or her vegetables, you will appreciate the list I am sharing with you. When we first had our baby so many people told us to remember as many of the "little things" as possible because they grow up so fast.

So, we started a little journal where we write down some of the everyday things that happen so we can remember them. I ran across this hilarious list I made on a particular St. Patrick's Day when she was only two.

I thought I would share it with you here in case you have forgotten some of those funny times when kids are so creative they can outsmart the best of us!

After at least an hour of this battle of wills where I begged her, bribed her and even put her in naughty chair,  she finally won and did not have to eat a single pea.

I, on the other hand, ate many, many peas as I tried demonstrating to her how to do it and how good they were. I also picked up many peas off the floor during my failed attempts to get her to eat just one.

The next day, I picked her up from daycare to hear that during lunch that day, she ate a whole bowl!

I was told, "Oh yeah, she LOVES peas!"

And that's my version of The Princess and the Peas.  Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
