Tucker Company a 'Family Business' Finalist
The Cox Family Enterprise Center honors Georgia-based firms that have successfully combined business with family.
Atlanta Light Bulbs, of Tucker, was named a Georgia Family Business of the Year finalist in the small business category for companies with fewer than 50 employees. The awards are presented by the Cox Family Enterprise Center in the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.
Since 1991, the Cox Family Enterprise Center has given out the annual awards to honor Georgia-based, family-run firms who have successfully combined business with family. Criteria are based on family involvement in the business, innovative business practices or strategies, contributions to the community and business success.
Atlanta Light Bulbs, Inc. supplies lamps and ballasts to commercial and industrial companies. With more than 10,000 different products, ranging from traditional light bulbs to bulbs for microscopes, IMAX theaters, medical lamps, and 1940s fixtures. The company is run by founder Gary Root and his sons.

All the 2013 winners and finalists will be honored at the 22nd annual Georgia Family Business of the Year awards dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at The Georgia Aquarium. The annual gala is co-hosted by Georgia Trend magazine and sponsored by Brookwood Associates, J. Addams & Partners, Inc., J. Smith Lanier & Co., PNC Bank and Windham Brannon.
