Tucker CID Rolls Out Agenda

Volunteers are needed to serve on various committees.

Tucker's new Community Improvement District (CID) introduced its Board of Directors and its agenda at a meeting on Wednesday, July 17.

"To see this concept come to life is truly exciting," said CID President Ann Rosenthal. "Great things are happening here in Tucker, from the Livable Community Initiative, Main Street renovation and the Lifelong Communities; the Tucker CID will not only enhance but enrich what is already taking place."

Rosenthal said goals include an analysis of Lawrenceville Highway from I-285 to Hugh Howell Road for beautification potential as well as road and signage improvements throughout the area covered by the CID. She said Tucker should become a "major economic hub for (DeKalb) County."

"Our area has a $1.4 billion dollar payroll which equates to 31,000 jobs. CIDs are one of the most powerful public-private tools to revitalize business districts, create attention and re-energize entire communities," said Chairman Bill Rosenfeld. "(It) will allow community leaders to chart a course they determine for the area’s economic growth and lasting vitality."

Rosenfeld said the organization is looking for volunteers to serve on committees for Beautification, Economic Development, Public Safety, Transportation, and "stakeholder CID expansion recruitment."
