Scoutmob Has Tucker Deals

Six local businesses have deals featured on the popular website.

Scoutmob is all about good deals, and there are currently six Tucker businesses on their website.

First up is the Paramount on Idlewood Road, the only independently owned coffee shop in town. "It isn't your typical busy, loud hub besieged by over-caffeinated people. In fact, it's pretty much the exact opposite: comfortable, quiet, almost like your own personal library," according to Scoutmob. Patch staffers use it quite frequently too.

Then there is Coco Cabana, a lively Cuban restaurant that opened last year in Northlake. Scoutmob seems to approve: "If you're somehow not convinced by the crisp, sweet plantains, just check Chef Joel's credentials: we hear he's cooked for both the pope and Castro himself. And we have a feeling those particular diners didn't settle for just anything."

Kochi Sushi & Hibachi is next. You don't hear about it a lot, but you will. I tried it myself last week, and liked it. "Sushi, noodle bowls, and deliciously flavorful dishes hot off the hibachi, no pyrotechnics required. The Japanese restaurant prefers to keep the dining experience gimmick-free, with just one grill on the far wall and no Benihana-style private hibachi tables... Just some good ol' fashioned tables, chairs, and excellent food," say the Scoutmob guys.

About Sweet Dee's Bakeshop, they said: "It's just about impossible to have a quandary that can't be solved with a homemade cupcake, and the cheery atmosphere inside Sweet Dee's (combined with the scent of buttercream) just reinforces those good vibes." There you go.

Also fairly new in Tucker is Las Colinas Mexican Grill, which is becoming deservedly popular. Scoutmob describes it as "a family run Mexican joint boasting flavorful Tex-Mex dishes (everything from fajitas and tacos to molcajete, a pot of sizzling meats and veggies, topped with a grilled cactus leaf and a skewer of shrimp) and an abundance of tequila-laden libations."

Finally, they list a place that has little to do with food or drink. It's more about t-shirts, bags, iPhone cases, etc. At Yellow Llama, which moved recently to Main Street, the owners "are there to help you fine-tune, customize, and print your design on just about any printable surface one could imagine."
