New Walmart Neighborhood Market Now Open

The Tucker location opened its doors this week.

Walmart's new Neighborhood Market in Tucker opened for business on Wednesday morning.

The approximately 41,000-square-foot store, at 3201 Norcross Tucker Road, is in a brand new building and carries groceries, pharmacy items and general merchandise.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place with DeKalb County Fire Chief Eddie O’Brien, store manager Charles Mitchell and DeKalb County Commissioner Stan Watson in attendance.

"The folks who work here are from the community, so the money (they make) stays in the community," Mitchell told Patch. "We're here to stay." About 95 employees work at the location.

When Mitchell was asked if there had been any problems preparing the store for opening, he replied, "nothing that the team could not overcome. It was not completely smooth, but we all had great support."
