Farm Mobile Marks Birthday with New Partner

Mobile farmers market visits Tucker every Wednesday afternoon.

On Sunday March 10, 2013 from 7-10 p.m., Farm Mobile will celebrate its second birthday with a benefit party at 5 Seasons Brewing’s westside location at 1000 Marietta Street in Atlanta. Guests will enjoy an exciting array of local food bites concocted by Chef Dave Larkworthy featuring the best of Farm Mobile, beer, wine, and a special live music treat! Tickets are $25 and available in advance.

It’s been two years since Riverview Farms launched Farm Mobile, Atlanta’s first mobile farmers market. A repurposed step van, the truck makes six-eight stops in metro Atlanta each week, including Tucker on Wednesdays outside St. Andrew's Church on LaVista Road.

Proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction will benefit Farm Mobile’s newest partner, Wholesome Wave Georgia. Says Donna Toepfer, Farm Mobile’s manager, “Farm Mobile is excited and proud to be able accept SNAP benefits in 2013, and double the value of those dollars with support from Wholesome Wave Georgia.”

This event will raise a portion of the necessary funds that will help Farm Mobile improve access to healthy and delicious food throughout the city. Attendees can bid on one-of-a-kind local food products and experiences that feature the talented artisans who have partnered with Farm Mobile over the last two years: a pasta class with Storico Fresco pasta, dinner at your house from Dumpling Girl, a canoe and farm tour of Riverview Farms with a local food picnic, butchery demo at Heywood’s Provisions, local food baskets, and much, much more.

Shoppers enter the truck and purchase the best of the local food products typically available at Atlanta’s stationary farmers markets: Riverview Farms’ renown heritage pork and grassfed beef, certified organic produce, Storico Fresco handmade pastas, Asian-inspired local cuisine from Dumpling Girl, H&F Bread Co. bread, and so much more.

Since inception, Farm Mobile has made an estimated 550 stops, providing a robust and innovative sales outlet for small family farms and creative new food businesses that use local food products.

Come out and join in the fun while you support two great local projects: Farm Mobile, bringing the best of the market to Atlanta neighborhoods and Wholesome Wave Georgia, increasing access to fresh, local, and healthy foods.
