Big Music Night Friday at Old Tucker Fountain

Mike Holcomb, owner of the Old Tucker Fountain on Main Street, is determined to ramp things up musically at the venue. There is already live jazz on Thursdays at lunchtime, and live bluegrass on Sunday evenings.

But Friday, Aug. 10 is going to be a little different. A line-up of rising pop, rock, and country musicians will perform, among them Riley Beiderer, a young prodigy from Cumming, Georgia who caught the ear of Elton John and was recently signed to his production company. 

“They think big things are possible for Riley," her father told in a profile of the artist last year. "She plays both acoustic guitar and piano and writes songs that belie her age.” Beiderer is currently working on her debut album.

Also on the bill is Jean Anne Chapman Richardson, a singer and songwriter who has worked with Loretta Lynn, Walter Egan and Crystal Gayle, among others.

Then there's Chick Cusick, described by Holcomb as "a great writer and one of the most respected people in the Atlanta music scene I know. The other artist is Jerry Zee, a great performer." The opening act is Sam Collier, a soulful singer who is also from Atlanta.

"This is definitely the way we want to use this place," Holcomb told Tucker Patch. "I'm being approached almost daily by artists in the community who want to play here."

He is expecting a good turnout for the show. "Customers say they're coming and bringing a bunch of friends," he said.

The Old Tucker Fountain is located at 2329 Main Street in Tucker. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the restaurant will be serving its regular fare, with several new items on the menu. No alcohol is served, but Holcomb is considering having wine and beer available in the future. The suggested donation for Friday's concert is $8.
