Viewfinder: Artist Patricia Bohannon

Former Tucker High School teacher showcases her work.

Patricia Bohannon is quite possibly Stone Mountain's best kept secret. A resident of the area since 1994, Bohannon was an art teacher at Tucker High School before retiring and focusing on her art.

"The art that I create is done to the glory of God," says Bohannon's artist statement. Bohannon uses a vibrant color pallet and the common element in each abstract landscape are the primary colors.

"The inspiration to create comes from my imagination and things I see in nature," said Bohannon.

Bohannon's praise and worship sculptures are inspired by Psalms 100: "They are a proclamation of my faith and my call to the viewer to praise him in spite of life's surrounds."

Bohannon, originally from Chicago, earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors from Chicago State University in 1985, after freelancing as a sign painter and graphic designer, marrying and raising a family.
