Farmers' markets and tons of music line up the weekend before school starts.

FlapJack's Birthday Blowout

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 10 p.m.-3:30 a.m., Watering Hole Bar and Grill, 4341 Hugh Howell Road, Tucker. 

Why Go: The Watering Hole is throwing a huge party Friday, and they're going out with a long list of activities: From goldfish racing to jello wrestling, it sounds like this is not a night to miss, especially for Watering Hole regulars. Drink specials, free shots and giveaways will be occurring throughout the night.

Pricing: $5 entry the day of, and $3 in advance, plus a free shot.

2nd Annual Riverboat Excursion

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Party on a boat this weekend with a DJ, food and dancing, all for a good cause. First Light Entertainment and East Bound Foundation are having a fundraiser to benefit the Horace Ruben Scholarship Banquet for the W.C. Thomas Lodge #112 of the Prince Hall Masons, and the scholarship is presented to college freshman and sophomores to continue their schooling.

"A Heart That Forgives"

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 6, 6 p.m., Smoke Rise Baptist Church, 5901 Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Smoke Rise Baptist Church is having a Christian song and dance performance take the stage this weekend. The play details the story of a young man and his sister and their journey to forgiving their father, who abandoned them as children. 

Pricing: $5. Guests can preorder tickets here.

Lilburn Idol Finale and Farmer's Market

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 4 p.m. for the market and 7 p.m. for the show, Lilburn City Park, 76 Main Street, Lilburn. 

Why Go: The best performers from the last two Idols take the stage again for a final sing-off to end the competition and the summer. Kill some time before the show by browsing the market across the street, too. 

Pricing: Free. 

Hanapalooza Music and Arts Festival

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 5, 5 p.m.-midnight, and Saturday, Aug. 6, 10 a.m.-midnight, Hanarry Estates Swim and Racquet Club, 595 Johannah Place, Lilburn. 

Why Go: School starts Monday, so give it a last hoorah with a music festival right in Lilburn. Hanary Estates has set up a two-day festival right in Lilburn with more than a dozen acts with local artists, such as Bill Nollner and The Rockaholics ATL. For a complete list of musicians and times, . 

Pricing: Free, but donations are accepted, with funds going toward bicycles for underpriviliedged youths.
