Frugal Family: Entertainment on the Cheap

Three great deals on entertainment the whole family can enjoy.

I’ve found three great deals on entertainment in the Atlanta area this week. Puppets, Jousting, and Movies…there’s a little something for everyone.

The Center for Puppetry Arts

1404 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309

The Center for Puppetry Arts is celebrating their 33rd anniversary this month, and they’re giving you 33% off ticket prices. Click here to buy two tickets and get one free for your choice of show between now and the end of October (included productions are “The Ugly Duckling,” “Old Man and the Monkeys and Other Chinese Tales,” “La Cucarachita Martina,” and “The Headless Horseman of Silly Hollow”). Member price for three tickets with this deal is $18.50; non-member price is $33. Included with your ticket is entrance to the puppet museum including the Jim Henson exhibit, the puppet show, and the create-a-puppet workshop. Valid for performances through 10/31/11.

Medieval Times

5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30043

Medieval Times dinner & show is offering several special offers right now. When you order tickets online, use promo code FRWEB11 to upgrade regular (full-price) admission to the royalty package for free. Royalty package includes the five-course dinner and show, as well as preferred seating, a cheering banner, a commemorative program, and a Medieval Times Behind-the-Scenes DVD. Valid through 12/31/11.

Medieval Times is also offering another deal, where customers buying groups of two, three, or four tickets save money depending on how many they buy. Two tickets are each $40, three tickets are $38 each, and four tickets are $35 each. (Regular admission price is $51.95.) Use code 2PWEB, 3PWEB, or 4PWEB (corresponding to how many tickets you’re ordering) to get the discount. These codes are valid through 10/1.

4043 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084

Movie Tavern is now offering several weekday specials. They include $4 margaritas on Mondays, two for one pizza on Tuesdays, 1/2 price buffalo wings on Wednesdays, and $3 domestic draft beer on Thursdays. Retro Cinema is also continuing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. throughout the fall (click here for the schedule).

One of the many things I love about the Center for Puppetry Arts is the fact that there is free parking right outside the facility. I've never been unable to find a parking spot, and when you have kids in tow, it's nice to know you won't need to walk several blocks to get to and from your car. Thanks for posting this deal, Lisa! I hope we can take advantage of it.
