Tucker Takes 'Giant Leap Forward'
The Tucker Together organization is waiting for the outcome of a cityhood feasibility study.
Tucker residents have taken a giant leap forward toward a possible vote in a cityhood referendum, according to Michelle Penkava, Executive Director of Tucker Together. "The last push for funds sent us over the top,” she said in a statement Monday.
As was announced recently, the feasibility study is well underway at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies of Georgia State University after Penkava's group raised the necessary $30,000, ninety percent of it within the space of a month. The study is a requirement for a cityhood referendum to be conducted.
"Tucker is 121-years-old this year, with a thriving Main Street, many dedicated volunteer organizations, both civic and business, and a new progressive Tucker CID. Tucker offers a wonderful balance to its residents, many of whom have lived here for decades," said Penkava, who added that a major marketing effort will begin once the study is complete.
