Tucker Historical Society October Update

Browning Courthouse Day is coming up.

There will not be an October meeting or guest speaker this month, but please mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Browning Courthouse Day.

Browning Courthouse Day is a Free Event to the community! Historic Browning Courthouse is located at 4898 LaVista Road on the grounds of Tucker Recreation Center.

We are excited to share with you a few more activities we've added to the day. The courthouse will be open and historical society members will be on hand to talk about the history of the area and the families who settled here.

For those interested in genealogy and want tips on how to conduct research for your own family history, a one hour workshop on Genealogy Research by Secretary, Vicki Watkins will begin at 11 a.m. inside the courthouse.

Also, with the continuing 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Frank Russell and Bill Thomas (both men participate in civil war re-enactment groups) will discuss various topics concerning the war and will have some memorabilia and other related items on display. Come learn about how our community of Tucker and of Browning Courthouse was impacted by the events of that time.
