Three separate inaugural running events are about to take place in Tucker - two of them on Saturday, Sept. 17, and a third next weekend.
The Beat the Badge road race, sponsored by the DeKalb County Police Department, starts at 9 a.m. this Saturday. The event is a 3.2 mile race along LaVista Road that will end with a street festival at DeKalb Police Headquarters, located at 1960 West Exchange Place in Tucker. The race is family-friendly and open to competitive and non-competitive runners of all ages.
All proceeds from the 5K run benefit the Dekalb Police Alliance. Runners can sign up by visiting active.com. The cost to participate is $30.00 and the deadline to register online is today, Thursday, Sept. 15. Onsite registration is available on the day of the race, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Also on Saturday is the , starting at 8 a.m. at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church at 1983 Brockett Road.
Registration for the Tucker 5K Challenge is $30. All registered participants receive a 100% cotton t-shirt, race number, and a goodie bag. Register online at Active.com, in person at Big Peach Running Company, or at the church until 7:30 a.m. on the morning of the race.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Fight Against Childhood Obesity 5K Run/Walk will be at . Registration forms should be turned in at the school by Friday, Sept. 16, so that T-shirts can be ordered. The fee is $10 for students and $25 for adults. All necessary information can be found here.
