Robert Oglesby's Memorial Service Scheduled for Saturday

The music and arts lover from Tucker died last Wednesday.

A memorial service will be held for Robert Lamar Oglesby on Saturday, Aug. 18 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, starting at noon. His family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m.

Oglesby, of Tucker, died last Wednesday at the age of 69 of undisclosed causes. A private burial will take place at a later date.

According to his obituary in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Oglesby helped set up the seminary at Mercer University in Atlanta and received his ordination from Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Oglesby is survived by his only son, Robert Christopher Oglesby; Robert's wife, Tina JoAnn Oglesby; Roberts's mother, Lydia Alice Oglesby, all of Tucker; as well as by grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra or the Woodruff Arts Center "to honor his love and his support for music and the arts."
