Earth Day is Monday, April 22. How will you celebrate the day? Can you think of one thing you can do differently, at least for that day, which embraces a healthy, sustainable environment? Some suggestions:
- Re-landscaping? Share the plants with your neighbors or plant societies for their plant sales instead of tossing them.
- Plant natives. They are hardy and adapt to our local conditions.
- Shred leaves and use them for mulch.
- Compost and reduce the amount of waste that goes into landfills.
- Have a creek or culvert runoff on your property? Clean it up. Get your neighbors to join in.
Let us know how you celebrate our environment. We’ll publish the most unique ones. Make sure the kids are involved!
