A record number of animals have entered the DeKalb County Animal Services shelter this year, an announcement said. Fifty-five percent more pets arrived at the shelter this past July vs. July 2012, according to Lifeline Animal Project.
As a result, during the month of September, dog adoptions are $20, and cat adoptions are $10. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered. microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm or combo tested and dewormed services. Standard adoption screening criteria still applies.
DCAS Director Susan Feingold says the goal of the promotion is to find homes for dozens of animals. “There are so many wonderful animals at our shelter that would make the perfect pet for anyone,” said Feingold in the statement. “We hope this promotion will encourage people to come in, adopt and save lives.”
