Tucker-based HOI To Host “Honduras Comes to Atlanta” Event

Roast to honor Decatur’s Matt Moore for his support of Honduran ministries

HOI, the Tucker-based  international Christian-based mission program that operates schools, clinics and volunteer work groups in Honduran and Nicaraguan villages, has announced it will host the inaugural “Honduras Comes to Atlanta” event. The seated dinner event will be held on Nov. 7 at the Marriott Courtyard in Decatur, Ga., beginning at 6:30 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit HOI’s ministries in Honduras and Nicaragua.

The roast-themed event will honor Matt Moore, a longtime Avondale Estates resident and supporter of HOI’s ministries in Honduras.  After a successful business career along with retiring from the U.S. Army Reserve as a brigadier general, Moore dedicated his life to helping people in Latin America. He has made more than 50 trips to Honduras and Costa Rica spearheading community development and construction projects. Teaming up with HOI, Moore resided at the organization’s ranch base acting as interim management on several occasions.

“Matt Moore has dedicated his life to helping the people of Honduras and Costa Rica improve their quality of life,” said HOI CEO Jerry Eickhoff. “Even as he got well past his retirement years, he continued to make the difficult trips into the remote regions of these countries to help improve living conditions, health standards and educational opportunities. He is respected and admired by all who worked alongside him, both North and Central Americans.”

“I’m honored that HOI is recognizing my love for the people of Honduras,” Moore said. “This event is not about me, it’s about the people we’ve worked with for so long in Central America. God has blessed me to be a part of this great ministry, and I’m proud of the impact we’ve been able to make.”

Attendees of the event will enjoy a seated dinner, fellowship with HOI supporters and staff, and the opportunity to bid in a silent auction. Highlighted auction items include a weeklong condo stay in Maui and autographed Tim Tebow New England Patriots football.
