St. Andrews Presbyterian Holds 3rd Annual Back to School Carnival

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, home of the largest church pre-school and after-school program in the community, will hold its third annual “Back to School Carnival” on Saturday, August 17, 10 a.m to 1 p.m, on the church property at 4882 Lavista Road.

The event is designed to introduce local families and the general public to the school programs and the church.  All are welcome and the carnival is free.  Activities will include face painting, bounce houses, spin art, a petting zoo, Bible stories and church songs, plus hotdogs, chips, snow cones and other snacks.

“It’s really a lot of fun for families with young children,” said Jill Jarvis, one of the event planners.  “It’s an opportunity for parents to see our campus, meet our teachers and ask questions about our program.”

The church first opened the school in 1969.  Today it serves more than 100 pre-school children ranging in age from six months to five years old, and provides an after-school program for students in grades one through five.  It also offers a day camp during summer months.

Last year’s carnival drew a crowd of more than 300 parents and children.  “It’s free, it’s fun, and it introduced a lot of families to the best value in pre-school education in Tucker,” Jarvis added.  “If you have young children and are looking for a pre-school or after-school program that teaches values as well as core skills, we’d love to see you at the carnival.”
