Shallowford Presby. to Host Stress Reduction Classes

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week, evidenced-based program of classes using mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga to cultivate awareness and reduce stress.  Held Tuesdays, August 19 – October 7, 2014 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, Atlanta, GA 30345 

 

There is a required orientation on Aug. 10 5-6 p.m. or Aug. 12, 7-8 p.m. to introduce the workshop.  “Is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Me?”

Kay Stewart, M. Ed, is the facilitator for the series sponsored by the Shallowford Family Counseling Center.  Participants learn to cultivate the innate human capacity for wholehearted awareness through self-observation and healing of stress-causing emotional and behavioral patterns, in order to live in full joy, stability and compassion.  Classes includes group dialogue, home practices and mindful yoga.  Supporting materials are provided

Kay Stewart, M.Ed., founded Stillwaters Mindfulness Training after completing graduate studies in Mindfulness and Contemplative Education in May, 2013. For more than 26 years, Kay served on the faculty in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Emory University. Her passion for cultivating health and well-being in individuals and communities began in 1979 after losing of both parents to chronic disease early in their life.
