A Tucker-based limousine service has been ordered by the Federal Government to cease all operations immediately due to safety violations, according to the Wall Street Journal, the Sacramento Bee, and other sources. Best Limo Service, at 2179 Morris Avenue, was told April 26 by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that numerous infractions were discovered during its latest inspection and that "its drivers and vehicles pose an imminent hazard to public safety," the report said. However, when reached by phone at noon on Friday, a Best Limo manager who would only identify himself as Lindell told Patch: "That's not so. The culinary school's chowder proceeds are going to marathon bombing victims.
Students and staff at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Tucker are doing what they do best to help the Boston bombing victims – cooking. As part of an initiative called Soup in Support, they will be making and selling bowls of their signature seasonal Roasted Fennel Tomato Florentine soup, which can be bought at Le Cordon Bleu for $5 per pint. Proceeds will benefit One Fund Boston, which provides financial support for victims. The school is located at 1927 Lakeside Parkway in Tucker. There would be at least 100 units in the rental community, the Smoke Signal reports.
A company wants to develop an active senior living facility in Tucker, according to the Smoke Signal. Norsouth Development has proposed the facility -- at least 100 rental units with various amenities -- for the area behind the Tucker Methodist church, according to the report. Hank Johnson's district includes parts of Tucker.
Rep. Hank Johnson, whose district includes portions of Tucker, introduced "The Help Entrepreneurs Create American Jobs Act" and "The Fairness and Transparency in Contracting Act" last week. A press release from Johnson's office states: The Entrepreneurs Act, a bipartisan bill, would permanently double the tax cut for start-up businesses. The Fairness in Contracting Act would ensure that federal small business contracts go to genuine small businesses instead of subsidiaries of large companies. A 62 is a dreadful score. You have to have some serious food bacteria issues to get a score that low. So glad that I never eat there....   more ›
