Surprising comment to come from someone who did not get re-elected. In fact, voters threw out every incumbent on the ballot during the last school board election, July 2012 (which should have been held in November by law but was somehow changed without anyone noticing even without a final district map approved and in front of voters).

The only exception was Dr. Speaks for the Superdistrict 8, which covers the half of the county that Walker doesn't believe he should represent at all. Dr. Speaks was the right choice esp. in light of the fact that her only opposition was a woman who did not show up for any of the public forums (that I am aware of) except one that she may have attended by speaker phone. And, the only campaigning she did was very last minute, to people outside her district lines and with a very racially charged robo-call.

Given the choice better, bad and worse, voters were at least able to elect "bad" this last time, so let's not accept the idea that poor voting habits will put us back where we started.

If you want to figure out a way to get better candidates onto the ballot, that's an issue worthy of discussion. And, perhaps an appointed board with a motivated Governor (who at least wants to save the cash cow so it can bring in some more money for the state to take away from us) will be the heavy hand to give the administrative the slim down or ship out mandate that is so badly needed.
