Great, so this happened on Monday and people are just hearing about it on Saturday??? Way to keep people informed. A lot of good neighborhood watch groups do when they don't inform the neighborhoods they are watching when things like this happen!!

CLOSE THIS MALL DOWN! What else will it take to get people to boycott that place?!

@Gladys and Jessica...crime occurs eveywhere. Just check crimemapping.com to see all the incidents that arent reported in the media or elsewhere. I dont think closing the mall that provides local jobs and revenue is the answer.

Revenue? If Northlake Mall was a revenue generator - then all the recognizable stores wouldn't have pulled out of that location. They left because the mall is awful.

It should be knocked down and a better one put in its place, IMO. (An updated / outdoor mall would be a good idea. Think, "The Avenues" or "The Forum.") I don't think it should be leveled and simply left as an empty, blank piece of land. Besides, people who operate wrecking balls are employees, too. They need work as much as the next guy does. :)

Granted, crime occurs everywhere, but armed robbery in a traditionally LOW-CRIME area of the metro at NOON in front of MACY's is a good reason to be concerned. I certainly don't know the answer - perhaps a bright, creative entrepreneur can come up with a solution to make the Mall property viable again.

So Macy's, Sears, JCPenney, and Kohl's arent recognizable names for a mall? And there are recent new additions where my teens like to shop that I've always had to drive to Gwinnett Place or Mall of Georgia to get to. And, even with all the wonderful improvements on Main Street in Tucker, people are being robbed, at gunpoint, in the middle of the day, not to mention the assaults and car thefts in the area. Check the facts. Times are hard for a lot of folks, and they are not concerned with the nicety of their surroundings if they are of a mind to do wrong to address their needs. I'd even venture to say that the nicer surroundings might be a more tempting area to those of a criminal nature. Just saying...

Person was robbed at gunpoint at Mountain Park Aquatic Center in Stone Mtn/Lilburn area. Should we close it and level and put something else there? Crime will happen where the idiot decides to do it.

hmmm, i am a resident in miami, FL and frequent the north lake mall when i stay in the tucker area for work, seems like a pretty nice mall and im comparing to miami standards, maybe some more security is the answer! im hoping that some mall camera caught the incident? if not, then maybe the mall should invest in a security video system, cant stop em but atleast identify these hoodrats.

Oh, I don't want it to be knocked down because of crime. I know that crime happens everywhere. I want it to be knocked down and a new / updated mall put in its place. 1980 called. They want their mall back.

People want to shop at stores that they've heard of before, that's all. If you put good shops there - the shoppers will come! The surrounding area has done great things recently. It's time for Simon to put some time and money into that property. There is no reason that we should have to shop in Dunwoody or Buckhead or even in another county when we all want to shop right here in our own community.

I drive to Perimeter. Northlake Mall has gone nowhere but downhill. Even the larger names such as Macy's and Kohls are still very limited as to what they carry in their stores due to the square footage. I wish I enjoyed shopping there, but I don't and most of the surrounding community doesn't either. Update please!!

My truck just got broken into last Saturday at Northlake Mall and the security there doesn't seem to care.I wonder if this happens frequently?
