Volunteers Needed for Tucker Plant Swap

The Historical Society's annual Plant Swap is this Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.

The 11th Annual Tucker Plant Swap & Share takes place this Saturday, April 21, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Tucker First Baptist Church at 5073 LaVista Road. This will be a rain or shine event, and more importantly, it's free. Donations, however, are always appreciated.

Harry Powell of the Tucker Historical Society, organizer of the event, says volunteers are needed on Saturday to help set up tents and tables in the morning and tear down in the afternoon, and to keep the plant categories organized.

Volunteers may also have to answer gardening questions (if they know the answers, says Powell) and also talk about Tucker Historical Society events such as the Garden Tour, Tucker Day and Browning Courthouse Day, and to share other community news that will be made available.

Powell added: "Oh, don't forget, our own Grayson Mays will have his handmade birdhouses on hand for the very reasonable suggested donation of $10.00 each - what a deal!"

Those wishing to volunteer should email Powell at tuckerhistoricalsociety@gmail.com by Thursday morning so enough box lunches can be ordered. You never know what the weather will do so volunteers are asked to dress appropriately.

"It's the most fun you can have on a Saturday," said Powell.
