Members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra paid a visit to Evansdale Elementary on Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, as part of their Musicians in Schools program.

"This is one of our favorite things to do," cellist Joel Dallow told Patch. "We give the kids a taste of the orchestra, and we have fun with it."

A dozen players gave brief demonstrations of their respective instruments, took questions from the children and tested their musical knowledge. The ensemble played a few pieces as well, starting with a tango, which a boy in the audience correctly identified as originating in Argentina. A delighted Dallow said, "they know the answers!"

Evansdale has a general music course and recently initiated an instrumental program.
