Tucker Residents Among School Board Applicants
Gov. Deal has released the names of applicants to DeKalb's school board.
Governor Deal’s nominating committee for DeKalb school board appointments released the names of the 403 applicants on Thursday morning, and included in the list are ten candidates who call Tucker home.
Their names are Michelle Hamilton, Frank Lazaro, Christy O'Neill, T. Orlando Pearson, Cherry Peterson, Gretchen Marie Richards, Janet Russell, Mary Ellen Sheehan, G.D. Stanford, and Raye Varney.
“I have asked Chairman Kenneth Mason and the nominating committee to work quickly yet carefully to deliver me at least two nominees for each seat,” Deal said. “I met yesterday with Superintendent Michael Thurmond, and we know the time-sensitive importance of restoring the board so it can get to work putting the school system back on the right track."

Whow! I am stunned. I figured the dekalb school system was heading down the path that the clayton county school took; and with the same type of ignorant and selfishness that is apparent there.
