Tucker High's Principal Gets Regional Honor

A district-wide winner will be named May 17.

James Jackson of Tucker High has been named a DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Regional Principal of the Year.

Jackson has 17 years of experience with DCSD, having taught at Jones County High before coming to Tucker.

"I am honored to be selected by my peers," he told Patch Tuesday. Asked why he was picked, he replied, "I do not know. Every principal deserves this honor."

There are four other principals named by the district, and a winner will be announced on May 17.

Mr. Jackson is truly deserving of this honor. I have been an educator for over 30 years, working for nine different principals. Mr. Jackson is one of the two of those nine that I would hire if I had my own private school.

Thank you for printing an article about one of the many great things happening in Tucker schools.

Mr. Jackson's reaction to your question is only a sample of the humility and care with which he leads THS. His focus is always on setting a high bar and preparing our students to be successful adults. We are very fortunate to have him as part of our schools.
