Tucker Celebrates Summer with a Festival

Saturday's event is the first of its kind in town.

The Old Town Tucker Merchants' Association is rolling out yet another new event. This time it's a summer festival taking place on Main Street (where else?) this Saturday, July 28, starting at noon.

There will be live music, food, a professional sand castle demonstration, local celebrity dunk tank, and a bicycle show, among other things.

"The weather looks great for Saturday," organizer Jamey Wilson told Patch. "We have a great group of volunteers. Fun games with great prizes. Great music. The Local No. 7 is doing beer and Las Colinas will have a few different kinds of frozen margaritas."

Wilson added that they're bringing in half a dozen food trucks from around Atlanta.

Here is a schedule:

  • Watermelon Eating from 12:45 p.m.-1:15 p.m.
  • Big Wheel Race from 2 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Hula Hoop from 3:15 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
  • Hot Dog Eating from 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m.

The band line-up is as follows:

  • Summer Dare 12 noon
  • The Nominees 1:15 p.m.
  • Moontower 2:30 p.m.
  • The Francisco Vidal Band 3:35 p.m.
  • The Higher Choir 5 p.m.

A last word from Wilson? "I'm not sure what else to say other than it's going to be a great party. You'll hate yourself if you miss it!"
