Sex Case Teacher Denied Bond Again
Teacher indicted on sex charges will not be freed before his trial.
Almarcus Dewayne Thomas, the Tucker math teacher indicted on multiple sex crime charges earlier this year, has again been denied bond and will stay in DeKalb County Jail until his trial begins.
Fox 5 is reporting that DeKalb County Superior County Judge Gail Flake refused bond last week on the grounds that Thomas, 42, "might try to intimidate a witness."
He was initially denied bond in March. The start date of his trial has not been set.
Thomas was arrested in late February at his home in Lithonia after an investigation was undertaken by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit of alleged sexual activity with a 15-year-old female student at Tucker Middle School. He was charged with a total of 22 counts, including child molestation, statutory rape and invasion of privacy.
