A "watch party" at the home of Senator Curt Thompson celebrating President Obama's nomination has been cancelled.

The event was to have taken place this Thursday, Sept. 6 in Tucker to coincide with the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.

Thompson sent an email to supporters that said: "I apologize profusely, but I must cancel the viewing party I intended to host for the Democratic National Convention on Sept. 6. In my rush to get the party scheduled I missed the fact that I had a prior commitment on my schedule. I just wanted to send you all a more personalized email so that I could express my apologies. I greatly value your support and friendship, and hope that I don't find myself having to cancel another event like this."
