UPDATE: Scooter Rider Killed on Lawrenceville Highway

Early morning collision with a pickup truck killed a woman, not a man as previously reported.

An accident in Tucker this morning claimed the life of a woman riding a scooter, contrary to earlier reports stating the victim was a man.

The original article was based on a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Tucker Patch received a call this afternoon from a friend of the victim who declined to give his full name, nor the name of the woman. "Some of her family don't know about this yet," he said. He told Patch that he wanted to clarify victim's gender because "it just adds insult to injury."

The wreck happened around 6 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Steel Drive, the paper reported.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, traveling eastbound, struck the rider while attempting to turn left into Steel Drive. "He didn’t see the scooter coming in his direction, turned into it and struck the scooter,” DeKalb Police Lt. B.K. DeLoach told the AJC.

The truck's driver, who was on his way to work at the Steel Mart supply company, may face charges.

Every day it seems like I read of yet another bad driver killing a cyclist or motorcycle rider. I'm sick of it and there need to be ramifications. In this case, I wonder if the sun was rising and if it made it hard to see? In any case, you don't make the left turn until you can clearly see that it's safe to do so. The driver should feel terrible, and should be punished. Inconsiderate and bad driving is nothing to be shrugged off.

This is so sad, really horrible...but maybe we should untie the noose until we know the circumstances.

My Danger Sense has just warned me that the bad man who murdered this young woman with his car, I hope that at his show trial in a kangaroo court, that the district attorney will seek the death penalty, which is also known as The Operating Table Of Death! DANGER WOMAN

She was such a good friend to my sister, the kind of friend that's hard to find these days. She was loved and so very missed. No accident at all, you can't accidently kill someone when your being careless on the road ! It is all his fault for murdering her with his vehicle all because he was running late for work I suppose. Our hearts still break for her everyday and that justice will be served!
