The Greater Good Barbecue is hosting a fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 10 that will benefit employees of Handy Ace Hardware and their families.

The store's 35 employees lost their jobs when a sudden fire on Friday night destroyed the entire building and all its merchandise. The owners have yet to say whether they will rebuild the place.

"I am a resident of Tucker and am proud to be able to offer a way to help the great staff from the store," said Greater Good's manager Scott Ellenberger. "It may not be enough to make things better, but we hope that we can make someone's day just a little bit brighter."

A silent auction is also planned, and Ellenberger is soliciting items from different establishments throughout Tucker. "If you (or someone you know) would be interested in donating an item for auction, feel free to either drop by the restaurant, send me an email or a message on Facebook."

"What a very nice thing to do for Handy Ace," said local resident Jan Mixon. "How many of us in Tucker are devastated over the loss?"

There will be live music from 7 to 10 p.m., with a half-hour break in the middle. "Come have some barbecue and beers and show your support," Ellenberger said.
