With gas prices and unemployment constantly rising, sometimes a day at the park is just what you need to relax and clear your mind. Spend some time with your family and friends with an old fashioned picnic. Here are some great places to do just that.
Kelley Cofer Park
4259 N Park Drive, Tucker
Spend the day at Kelley Cofer Park relaxing and enjoying nature. Being here is inexpensive and fun, plus when was the last time you enjoyed the outdoors? There are picnic tables, a baseball field and a swimming pool. You can bring your family, friends or significant other to have a relaxing day at the park. They also have a dog park for your pets to run and play freely. Go where the grass is greener...
2803 Henderson Road, Tucker
If there is ever a place to really appreciate nature, it’s at a park. Henderson Park is a great place to have a picnic, hang out at the lake or just relax in a shaded area. It is a quiet park that's great for families with small children. There are two playgrounds and a pavilion if you want to throw a birthday party. Feed the ducks or just walk through the park’s trail. The benches are exceptionally nice and great for playing a round of cards, while eating burgers and hotdogs. Do not expect to play flag football here because the area is not built for such activities.
1852 Clark Drrive, Tucker
Sometimes you can have a nice intimate picnic with a loved one. Peters Park is a nice small park where you can set up a nice picnic blanket, a basket of food and even some wine to enjoy the day. The park is about only four aces but it still has a multi-use field, basketball court, playground and of course, a picnic area. Sometimes smaller is greater.
Tucker Recreation Center
4898 La Vista Road, Tucker
The Tucker Recreation Center has a picnic area among the many other things they offer. Unlike most parks, visitors do not have to figure out what they can and cannot do - there is someone on staff to answer any questions. Another plus is that the bathrooms are likely to be cleaner than the ones at a park. You can have fun both indoors but enjoy an afternoon right outside at the picnic spot.
Picnic tip: Watch out for poison ivy when heading out to wooded areas.
