Update: Fire at Moon Shadow Tavern
Tavern owners confirm the bar is shut down indefinitely.
Update, June 1 9:24 p.m.: The owners of The Moon Shadow Tavern have confirmed the bar is closed indefinitely.
"The fire which started on the roof did little visible damage from the street or inside - but the water damage seems extensive and as Miranda has said... rendered the bar inoperable," said the official Facebook page at 9:26 p.m. "The future of the space is unknown, but it seems like [the owner] has chosen to lay it down and not reopen himself."
Update: Patch has received conflicting reports on the date of the fire, and the reason for closing. We will continue to update as information becomes available.
Dekalb County Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 6:14 p.m. last night at Moon Shadow Tavern, located at 3976 Lawrenceville Highway.
When crews arrived, they observed smoke coming from the roof. No fire was visible.
The smoke was allegedly caused by a contractor doing work on HVAC system on the roof, resulting in a small blaze. Details of how the fire was started have not been confirmed. A ventilator was used to clear the smoke from the building, and no damage to the building was observed.
More details will follow as information becomes available.
