Author Ted Brooke Speaks to Historical Society

The meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 10 at the Tucker Recreation Center at 7 p.m.

 

In continuing our celebration of Tucker's 120th anniversary this year, we have a guest speaker for our September meeting.  

Ted Brooke, who now resides in Cumming, is a Tucker High School graduate of 1961, a Tucker Historical Society member and author. He will talk about his newly published book, "Cemetery Records of Tucker, Georgia and Environs (DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties)."

His book covers 33 cemeteries within a four mile radius of Main Street in Tucker. We welcome Ted and look forward to hearing about his experience on researching and writing this book.

The meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 10 at the Tucker Recreation Center, Room 7 at 7 p.m. We will not have a business meeting, but will have an udated calendar of events for the remainder of 2012.    

The next Tucker Historical Society Event to Note: Saturday, October 13 from 10 am to 2 pm - Browning Courthouse Day This year in addition to the archive displays, Vickie Watkins will host a one hour workshop on Genealogy Research . Frank Russell and Bill Thomas who both participate in Civil War Re-enactments will talk to us about that war and it's impact on the people of Tucker and DeKalb County and on our nation. Watch for more details, time schedules and information regarding this event.
