Alumni News: Graduations Galore
Several outstanding local students were honored during recent ceremonies.
Elyse Robinson of Tucker has graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design, earning a MFA degree in Interior Design.
Olivia L. Wells completed her baccalaureate studies in geology this year at SUNY Oswego and was recognized May 12 at the college's 151st Commencement.
Marie K. Bosler of Tucker was among the 470 students receiving degrees from Piedmont College at the recent May commencement ceremony. Bosler earned an Education Specialist degree. Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,800 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens, Ga., and was founded in 1897.
Heather Marie Kinney graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in Athens on May 11 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Two local students graduated from Brenau University at commencement exercises May 4 and 5: Kelsey Elizabeth Biernath received an Associate of Arts degree after focusing on liberal studies, and Ashley Monique Hagans who received a Bachelor of Arts degree after focusing studies on mass communication.
In other news, Christopher De'Andre Logan was recognized at Alabama State University during the 2012 Honors Convocation for having demonstrated outstanding achievement in his academic pursuits. Students must have completed at least 15 semester hours of core courses at ASU with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better to qualify for recognition.
Emma Carey of Tucker was inducted into the Georgia Alpha chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society at Valdosta State University. Carey was one of 57 students honored during a recognition ceremony. Membership in Alpha Chi is one of the highest academic honors that can be bestowed upon a student at VSU, and is restricted to juniors and seniors who rank within the highest ten percent of their respective classes.
